Downing 11-3-04 Edgar Allen Poe I defy not picked a favorite poet so far in my livelihood, but after this assignment, I am narrowing down my search. I am just inception to realize how m all poets have lived or are soothe living, making it more difficult to decide. There are numerous writers that I evaluate with high respect. Plus I have noticed that while I sens appreciate a writer solely by his or her work, once I have read their biographies my mind may change. There is something nearly knowing information virtually a poets life that shapes my opinion of the writer, either positively or negatively. After construe the poems of the Robinson, Whitman, Dickenson, Frost, Poe and Sandburg, I chose a favorite-Edgar Allen Poe. What sold me was his biography in the plump for of the book. His parents died a year after his birth-first his father in 1810, so his mother in 1811. I could never imagine what it must have been like for him to grow up never having any memories of his parents. I can slightly relate in the find that my parents divorced and I saw my dad maybe deuce-ace seasons after the split. Family situations and the emotions that are tied into those circumstances leave filtrate into a persons writing.

It is evident that though Poe does not come right out and talk about his struggles with maintaining mental health, his writing does reflect what is going on in his life or soul to some degree. I can see it or mind it because I have experienced a little of what he might have experienced while being raised in a firm that are not his parents (for me having a step-dad) and feeling the disconnection that may arise from the circumstance. A person who feels disconnected will prove to find it. In his poem, Annabel Lee (p.392) I can hear the distress he feels. Here is the woman he loves-beautiful Annabel Lee- who for the time was with him brought him so much joy.
