Spanish Conquest

The Conquest of New Spain is not an ordinary account book. It is a firsthand narrative of the events that took place during Cortezs expedition. Of course, all history is based on recorded events but usually in a collective fashion. When analyzing this book, one must remember that this is hardly one persons story. Undoubtedly, each one of the Spaniards would progress to had a slightly different story than the others. Just imagine how different the Indians stories would have been! in that respectfore, while this story is a tried and true source of the overall events, it most certainly has certain damage and unshared views. Naturally, all writers works are affected by their unique morals and expectations. For example, Diaz was one of the Spanish so by nature he believed that what he was doing was right and just. He believes that he is part the Indians by civilizing them, so obviously, he doesnt look at the brutal things they did, such as brutal killings, but sooner as something he had to do in orderliness to suffice the people. Also, I have found let on that Diaz wrote this book l years later and that he had money to gain for doing so.

He was writing this book in hope that the Spanish royal family would compensate him, therefore he, probably even with discover knowing, had to leave out certain things in order as to make the victors reckon just. The reader can almost get the sense that he is writing to someone that had certain expectations of what the trip was about. For example, Diaz takes many chances to condone that they told the people that they had come to put God in their life. There are also many other accounts of the events that are real differently portrayed than Diazs. Also, one thing that particularly stuck out to me was the way the Indians gave up so much gold to these people. either time they start giving the gold without any distinguish of request from Cortez.
