We Empower The Law

Q: How does the law empower individuals and groups in society?

I retrieve the law does not empower individuals or groups in society. The law is a balance of universal social beliefs and a artifice used to empower the current leadership. The law itself is a political relation agency to control the masses.
I deliberate it is society that empowers the law as the collective aspiration of morall(a)y conscious citizens. But, not all of society has the same moral compass and some intend that in some circumstances the law can be ignored. It is the fear of punishment that the government instilled in us from childhood that keeps us on the straight and narrow, even though umteen people commit crimes everyday that go unnoticed.
If we did not believe in right and wrong; then we would not hand over laws to outline what is socially acceptable behaviour and what is not.

If the majority of us believe that for example, we deserved the right of free speech and the government did not allow it, then the estimate of citizens would outweigh the number of paid law enforcers it would cause a revolution. This is what is happening with the popular revolution in Syria. The citizens of Syria want democracy and the current authoritarian is refusing to step down and allow an election to take place.
In conclusion, I think the law is the main cornerstone of whatsoever properly functioning society. But it is the individual conscience of a person that empowers the law through their respect for its necessity.
