ALMOST RIPPING MY LEG CHANGED MY LIFE

Dislocating and breaking my leg changed my life. In October of 1978 I was attending

Oakland city College. My best friend and I were goofing around in the comma butterfly area with two

other(a) guys. We are horse playing shoving individually other around just having fun. T he other two guys

are bigger so it was attack and run. I off out the door and jump from the deck, which is roughly

eightsome feet high at the time, I did not inhabit that I had broken a bone my leg. I continued beat the hill and

went to jump over a stone fence in and my foot caught on the wall and dislocated my knee ninety

The first thing the other three guys take me to the hospital. There they put my leg tolerate in

channelize and wrap up my knee and tell me that I pauperism an orthopedic Dr. So I drive home which is

about 70 miles .My mom takes me to the hospital in Bedford and they send me IUPUI .

Where they head for the hills on my leg twice then put it in a cast for six mouths. They tell me that I impart

have to wear a brace the rest of my life.

AT first when I got home, I felt mad and angered .Then I know that would have to live with

it. Therefore, I started manner of moveing with one crutch to build up my knee and lifting weights. I could

solely lift ten pounds to start with. Soon I could walk a little without any support.



It took about

four mouths in the beginning I was able to walk fairly will and at six mouths I could do almost anything I

had done before. I bought a dirt bike and started playing softball. Was able to exact a job as a

mechanic and had to be able stand all day. I sometimes have in mind softball was not a good ideal now

as I have arthritis in my both my knees.
When I went back to Dr. Kittlecamp he laughed and said he wished that a lot of patients

would slew a Drs. advice. People can over come a lot of sit backs if they will just try. I unflurried

wonder what my life would have been if I had finished school. That is hindsight so I guess I will
