not alot The Jungle--a review By: Captain Ryan As I opened the cover of The Jungle, I anticipated involveing a tragical story ab break the cruelness inflicted upon a poor, proletariat family. I had ingest an excerpt from the novel and had conversed with people who had read it; I thought the story was going to be solid, and peradventure yet entertaining. I was incredibly wrong. The beginning of the story started bug out slow, as it was just another “American Dream” eccentric person story. Jurgis and family came to the States seeking a better life and freedom from their dry land of origin’s injustices.
The story had pote ntial, hardly the redundancy of the descriptions wore old. I save need to hear once or perchance even twice how cold the winters were, or how evil the wadding bosses were. The provided parts that I thought had any value were the descriptions of the works facilities and what foulness and corruption were found within.
